Assistant Project Accountant/Finance Assistant

My client is a dynamic bio tech company, which is looking for an Assistant Project Accountant/Finance Assistant to join their busy finance team. Key responsibilities include:

  • Raising c. 100 purchase orders a month using Sage 200
  • Ensuring purchase orders have approval for the spend
  • Matching invoices to purchase orders
  • Running batch payments on Sage 200
  • Posting purchase ledger invoices relating to project costs
  • Analysing , investigating and resolving invoice queries relating to projects
  • Checking with budget holders that invoices are correct
  • Analysing project spend against budget
  • Month end accruals for projects
  • Reconciling the US subsidiary bank account and possibly other bank accounts
  • Ensuring the VAT is correctly posted and reconciled
  • There will be an opportunity, depending on experience, for this person to work on payroll, pension, health insurance and month end closing of books when colleagues are on holiday

The client will be interested in interviewing people with the following skills:

  • Sage 200 and Excel
  • Experience of dealing with purchase orders, matching invoices and resolving queries relating to projects. This is a large part of the role
  • Preparing accruals
  • The ability to multitask
  • Good communication skills
